Dick and Rick Hoyt announced as the 2008 Triathlete Hall of Fame Inductees

Triathlete magazine publisher John Duke has announced Dick and Rick Hoyt as part of the inductees for the 2008 Triathlete Hall of Fame.

To date, Dick and Rick have competed in 978 race events, including over 200 triathlons. They have completed Ironman triathlons in Penticton, Canada, Germany and Kona, Hawaii.

The induction ceremony will take place at the awards dinner on Sunday, October 12 in Kona, Hawaii, following the 30th anniversary Ironman triathlon (which takes place on Saturday).

The inaugural Hall of Fame class of 1998, which consists of (5) triathlon founders Tom Warren, Bill Shanahan, David Pain, Bill Phillips and Jack Johnstone.

Subsequent years:

  • 1999 (5) inductees Dave Scott, John Collins, John Howard, Sally Edwards and Valerie Silk.
  • 2000 (4) inductees Julie Moss, Scott Tinley, Carl Thomas and Jim Curl.
  • 2001 (1) inductee Scott Molina.
  • 2002 (1) inductee Mark Allen.
  • 2003 (2) inductees Sylviane and Patricia Puntous.
  • 2004 (2) inductees Dan Empfield and Mike Pigg.
  • 2005 (1) inductee Paula Newby Fraser.
  • 2006 (2) inductees Greg Welch and Erin Baker.
  • 2007 (1) inductee Les MacDonald.
  • 2008 (3) inductees Heather Fuhr, Dick and Rick Hoyt.

A total of 27 after this Oct. 2008.
