From the audience, I can tell you that he moved almost everyone in the room to tears — in an inspiring way and not out of pity. The message he delivered was perfect for our session and our participants truly ended that day believing that they can accomplish anything. This was our objective, and I'm genuinely thrilled with the outcome.
Thanks in large part to your participation, we were able to raise an astonishing $250,000 for our life-changing programs. I might add that it is the largest amount we have ever raised at one of our luncheons.
Thanks again for the opportunity to hear such a motivating speech—it was meaningful and something I'll always remember. In fact, I thought of Team Hoyt several times Sunday morning during a 20 mile run. Each mile it got tougher and tougher to keep up my pace and then I kept telling myself, Dick Hoyt does this (and way more) pushing his son in a running chair...
I got to meet a guy named Dick Hoyt. No fancy ties or suits. No screaming and jumping up and down with his fist in the air; but by far the most powerful message I have ever heard... I can honestly say in the 15 years of being sent to these motivational programs, this is by far the most touching and influential one I have ever encountered.
One of the young men who asked a question at the end of the talk was an autistic student who attends the college. The next day I saw him in our campus center repeating 'yes we can' to himself. As much as the talk affected me, I was truly dumbfounded by your affect on him.
I had so much anger, sadness, and the biggest one, guilt as I viewed my son and his disability. He was born prematurely, (no known medical reason) and as a result has cerebal palsy. We fought long and hard for his life, against all recommendations from the specialists... Your story and positive outlook on Rick's life made me re-evaluate mine. I looked for the good things in life. I began running and it cleared my mind. It was the therapy I needed.
To stand in the back of the room and watch the emotion in each of the faces of my franchises and colleagues, and hear the exclamations of amazement at your miraculous story was very exciting for me... We have hired countless keynote speakers over the last 30 years and it was unanimous that you were by far one, if not the best.
We conducted a post-meeting survey and people said that we would never be able to top Dick's presentation. They said that by listening to Dick, they truly felt that anything was possible. They also said that they would never forget his message and I believe that's true.
